Follow these steps in order to safely free up disk space.

1. Settings → General → iPhone Storage to see what takes the most space.
2. Choose "Offload App" for large apps you rarely use (keeps documents & data).
3. In messaging apps, clear chat caches from their storage settings.
4. Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted → Delete All; enable iCloud "Optimize iPhone Storage".
