Follow these steps in order to safely free up disk space.

1. Settings → Storage to review usage, then run the "Free up space" suggestions.
2. Open the Files by Google app → Clean, remove junk and duplicate files.
3. Long-press a rarely used app → App info → Storage → Clear cache.
4. After backup, delete large videos and empty the gallery trash.
